About donations and tax deduction

  • What are the donation methods available?
    Donations can be made online via the campaign website using Visa or Mastercard. If you experience difficulties with your transaction, please contact us.
  • Is my donation eligible for tax deduction?
    Yes, all donations made towards this campaign will be eligible for 2.5 times tax deduction of the total donation amount.
  • Will I receive a tax-deductible receipt for my donation?
    Yes, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt via the email address provided within two months from the date of donation.
  • Can I “adopt a cladding” for someone else?
    Yes, you can certainly buy a "virtual roof cladding" for friends or family, upload a photo and short message and share it with them via email, Instagram or TikTok. However, an image and short message can only be uploaded by you, at the time of donation. Please remember when choosing the image and text that your recipient's "roof cladding", including their name, will be on public display once the donation process is complete.
  • I would like to make a donation for more than 10 pieces of "roof cladding". How can I do that?
    Please contact us and we will be in touch within three working days.
  • I changed my mind. Am I able to receive a refund for my donation?
    We regret to inform that donations made are not refundable.
  • How will Esplanade utilise the money raised from this campaign?
    Esplanade is a charity and not-for-profit organisation. Funds raised from the campaign, after deduction of transaction fees, will support Esplanade’s efforts to ensure programmes remain accessible to everyone in the community.
  • About Personalising the Cladding (“Spikes”)

  • Can I personalise the piece(s) of roof cladding?
    Yes, you will be able to personalise your piece of "roof cladding" by uploading a photo and a short text message prior to payment. You will be able to write a short message (140 characters) and/or upload a picture. You can also choose to use a generic image provided by Esplanade.

    You are free to upload any image. However, Esplanade reserves the right to remove any offensive or otherwise inappropriate images or messages in accordance with the campaign’s Terms of use.

    Please note that you are unable to alter the image or message after completing the donation.

    If you choose not to personalise your piece of "roof cladding", you can proceed to the Checkout section to complete the donation.
  • Will I be able to choose a specific piece of roof cladding (aka “durian spike”) from Esplanade’s domes, for my image to appear?
    No. The piece of "roof cladding" is selected at random.
  • What happens to the image(s) that I have uploaded?
    Images uploaded will be publicly displayed only within the context of the campaign, including promotion of the campaign.

    In addition, Esplanade reserves the right to make use of the images uploaded by donors to create a piece of visual art installation for display purposes in future.
  • I would like the image(s) and/or message(s) uploaded to be removed from the website. What should I do?
    If you would like your image and/or message to be removed, please contact us. We will be in touch within three working days.
  • About the website

  • How will my personal data collected be used?
    Esplanade will use personal data collected from the campaign for tax deduction purposes and to enable participation in the campaign. This will include personal details and images being published on the virtual tile as uploaded at the time of donation.
